Come and make merry at the finest weekend-long St Paddy’s festivities this side of Dublin, when The Sun Tavern celebrate their Irish roots on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th March.
- The Sun Tavern , London, 441 Bethnal Green Road, London, E2 0AN
- 17/03/2018 to 18/03/2018
Home to one of the largest selections of Irish Whiskey in London, The Sun have long championed Ireland’s notorious spirit, poitín (pronounced ‘po-cheen’). For the big day itself, they have teamed up with Dublin’s leading progressive Irish whiskey distillery, Teeling to produce three special cocktails, only available on the day, priced at £7.50 each:
‘Revival’ (Teeling Small Batch, Calvados, Apple, Pimento Ginger Ale & Citrus)
‘Golden Triangle’ (Teeling Single Grain, Port, Demerara, Lemon, Egg White, Thyme)
‘Pear Drop’ (Teeling Single Malt, Rinquinquin, White Port, Sekforde)
Oyster Boy will also be on hand shucking out complimentary oysters to add an East London touch to the Irish revelry – a regular at Columbia Rd, Broadway and Leyton Markets.
Alongside the cocktails, for the first time ever at The Sun, guests will be able to cheer for the boys in green (or white) as the highly anticipated England vs. Ireland rugby will be screened in the afternoon at 14.45. Later, whether celebrating or commiserating, Drew McConnell from Babyshambles & Helsinki will supply a rowdy set for a good old-fashioned knees up.
On Sunday 18th, for those nursing a headache The Sun will be mixing ‘Bloody Murphys’ – a Bloody Mary with an Irish slant courtesy of Bán Poitín – and a trad Irish band will be playing early in the afternoon.
