We catch up with the recently titled 'Best Bartender In The World' to find out all his favourite bits about London

With a bartending CV that spans the globe and would make most cocktail slingers blush, including The Tipping Club in Singapore, plus hot London spots The Zetter Townhouse, and The American Bar at The Savoy - it's no wonder that Joe Schofield was awarded the International Bartender Of The Year at this year's Tales Of The Cocktails Spirited Awards to sit alongside his many other accolades. He currently splits his time working in Asia and Manchester, has a consultancy with chef, Ryan Clift called Sensorium and is even working on a new gin brand. We catch up with the extremely busy, but down to earth guy to find out his favourite bits about London...

What do you do for work?
I own a consultancy company called Sensorium and a gin with the same name coming out soon!

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself...
My brother is also a bartender, it's becoming something of a family trade!

Where’s your favourite spot for a tipple in London?
I love the American Bar at The Savoy. I was fortunate enough to work there for a few years and I love going back and having a Martini.
Bar Termini is also one of my favourites, when I worked in London you could often find me there for an espresso on the way to work or a Negroni after.

What would be your desert island drink and meal of choice?
My favourite meal is an aged Ribeye steak and fries, served medium rare.
To go alongside it, I would have to take a bottle of Penfolds Grange if I had to choose.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever put in your mouth?
A couple of years ago I ate at Gaggan in Bangkok and I tried Goat Brain Foie Gras. Who knew!?

What celeb would you most like to go on a bar crawl with and why?
Bill Murray. I think he is one of those people you know could get along with anyone and make sure you have a great time with plenty of stories to tell after.

If you could open a proper London boozer what would you call it?
I would call it The Boars Head. This is the place where I stared my career in hospitality some 12 years ago.
I was 16 at the time and I struggled to be able to pour ales on pump. It was great at the time, everything a good pub needs, great food, eccentric regulars and great beer.

What’s your go to cocktail to make at parties?
Aperol Spritz is my go to. I make mine without soda for a more intense flavour, so you only need a bottle of Prossecco and a bottle of Aperol. And everyone loves a spritz.

If you were a drink what would you be?
I wasn't too sure about this question so I did an online quiz! 
Apparently I'm a Bloody Mary, I'll take that!
