It's nearly the end of the month and we feel like partying, Robert Burns style... with so much to enjoy, from cocktails in Soho to whisky tastings that will transport you to the heather strewn moors and exclusive access to members clubs, we thought you might need a hand choosing. So we’ve rounded up the best bits, the not-to-be-missed parts and put them in this ever-so-handy list for you….
You’ve got until Sunday to enjoy them all with your FREE Festival Pass, here are the top things to do this Scotch Whisky Weekend.
GRAB A £6 COCKTAIL
Festival Pass in hand (on our handy free phone app of course)… plus your laddies and lassies in tow, head out to create your own Cocktail Tours in some of London’s top bars this weekend. You’ll be transported to the land of Nessie with some delicious Scotch whisky libations, but hurry they won’t be around for long.
Hercules in Soho have created a kilt-blowing elixir of Glenfarclas Scotch, banana caramel and bee pollen tonic. Round the corner at Henson’s Bar you’ll find a Elements of Islay and Monkey Shoulder Scotches, rhubarb cordial and aperitivo del Professore and out East Callooh Callay are getting their freak on with a mix of Monkey Shoulder, pear liqueur, cardamom bitters, pear and apple.
And at Mac and Wild, they've gone one step further and paired their Haig Club cocktail with a delicious Haggis, Neeps & Tatties Burger.
Don’t take our word for it, check out the 26 bars taking part this Scotch Whisky Weekend.
EXCLUSIVE ACCESS TO THE SCOTCH MALT WHISKY SOCIETY
The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, an extra special members club that offers the world’s widest collection of rare and exceptional single cask whiskies has opened its doors, exclusively for Scotch Whisky Weekend Festival Pass holders - this weekend only!
You’re invited into the popular Members Room at either of their clubs in Battersea or Farringdon, where for just £15 you’ll get to try two drams of specially selected Scotch Malt Whisky Society Burns bottlings and a choice of bar snack, yum.
We advise booking as we have an inkling this one's going to be popular.
ONE-OFF ENTRY INTO THE SOHO WHISKY CLUB
Gain access to over 600 bottles at another of London's private member’s club - aren't you lot lucky - also specialising in whisky and whiskey, right in the heart of Soho. Join them for one-day-only this Saturday and step into a hidden oasis for whisky lovers, where you can continue Burns celebrations into the weekend like a true Scot.
Choose a drop of one of the whiskies from around the world, ranging from £4 to a whopping £1,000 (well it is nearly pay day), then take your chosen tipple out onto the private terrace and snuggle up with blankets, heaters and your wee dram.
Reservations needed for this one.
GET SPECIAL TREATMENT AT THE WHISKY EXCHANGE
Our friends over at The Whisky Exchange have stocked up the shops and are ready to celebrate all things Scotch whisky. The team at both spots in Covent Garden and Fitzrovia have selected their favourite three whiskies, showcasing three different styles from different regions and made them available ONLY to you, Scotch Whisky Weekend Festival Pass holders.
For £6 you’ll get to explore the Highlands, Speyside and Islay while you sip on a lovely peaty monster from Caol Ila, a delicate, citrussy cask strength from Glen Moray and something tropical out of bourbon casks from Fettercairn, we can’t wait.
No booking needed, hooray!
GET ON BOARD WITH A £6 FLIGHT
Not sure which whisky takes your fancy, whether you feel like something a little sweeter from Speyside or a bit more wild and peaty from the islands? Then you’re in luck, because this Scotch Whisky Weekend, we’ve teamed up with a handful of extra special bars in London to offer you three lovely tasters, or as we like to call them whisky flights, so you don’t have to choose.
Bull in a China Shop in Shoreditch will be showcasing Sherry finishing at its finest, at Black Rock you’ll have the chance to look at all the aspects that make up the blend as well as the final creation itself and over in The Luggage Room they’re showcasing how ageing the whisky affects it’s taste with a stellar line-up of Laphroaig, Macallan and Auchentoshan – three whiskies for £6, who could ask for more!
AND WE COULDN’T FORGET…
It wouldn’t be a DrinkUp festival if we didn’t have an awesome array of events for you to go to – there’s ceilidhs a plenty, a rooftop party with Glenfiddich, exclusive tastings with Ardbeg and Aberfeldy and a Macallan feast and where you can fill up on neeps and tatties til your hearts content... we can almost hear the bagpipes. Check them all out HERE.
However you decide to celebrate this Scotch Whisky Weekend, we hope you have a dram good time!
